I was searching the web looking for Vex serial port pinout information recently when I came across a web site describing how they built a Vex programming cable. This is an interesting article.
http://www.crestoak.com/robotics/pro...progcable.html I noticed that their photo showing pinouts for the serial port differs from the pinout given on the VexForum web site. www.vexforum.com/showthread.php?t=70 |

I have seen this confusion before. There are 3 serial ports on a VEX. One called "Serial" one called "RX1" and one called "RX2" The one called Serial is connected to the master processor and the others are connected to the user processor.
You program the user processor via the master processor. The master is not programable by you. The user processor can only use the "RX1" and "RX2" ports. The "Serial" port has different pin outs then the "RX1" and "RX2". All three ports have a pin called RX. in the case of the "serial" port it is pin 2. It is notated as 2-RX in the article you linked to. |
