This will be the second of our hands-on meetings using the Arduino. Last meeting Vince showed us how to load the development software and how to load programs onto the Arduino. This month we will demonstrate how to capture information from line sensors and how to drive a motor controller. These will be the essential skills to develop a line-following robot using an Arduino. If you have an Arduino please bring it along with a laptop. If you don't have an Arduino you might consider purchasing one. The demonstration will use the new Arduino Duemilanove, and the Ardumoto motor shield from Sparkfun. The discussion should be applicable to other Arduino's and motor shields.
We will have a build session sometime between the March and April meetings. The build session will be a special meeting for members that want to work on their line-following robots in a group environment. We need a volunteer for our April presentation. Please consider sharing your knowledge. See you next meeting. Terry |

I will be bringing a new bot of my own design. It will be awaiting the "code" that your class will teach. I think that we need to touch on anticollision technique with as much effort as line following. Seems to be an obstical.
Terry you had asked me to build a sandwich bot by David Cook. Man does anyone have one of the old sandwich boxes? Cant find one yet. I am also using "adafruit" motor shield. Looks like it will run fine. This next week will tell the story, as I hope to get the gearhead motors to mount and run. As for as April do we need more on electronics or is everyone pretty much an EE? How about a scope demo showing timing. I had mentioned it to Vince. David F |

The meeting is this Saturday, March 6. Don't forget to bring your Arduino and a laptop. If you don't have one you might check the HMSBeagle. They usually carry them in stock. If you have an extra Arduino, you might bring it and share with people that could not bring one.
